Ben's check engine light came on, so we switched cars for a few days because I have the short commute. I called campus safety to let them know that I'd have a car without a sticker there for the week, but in order to do so, I needed the plate number. So here's the picture I took so that I knew the # (except I blurred it out for the internet).

So, a month ago or so, Ben came home from a bike ride and then answered the door in his spandex to see some girl scouts. He felt that because we were new to the neighborhood and because he looked weird, he should order some cookies. They magically arrived one day when I came home at lunch time to walk Ollie, and we happily spent the week or so eating them. Today, we went skiing and brought the last of the girl scout cookies with us (half happy to get them out of the house and half sad they'd be gone). Little did we know, there'd be more for sale in the ski lodge (we didn't buy them, though...).

Ollie standing upright to stalk this bush. I should have known this would happen, but later this week, I was home at lunch time talking to my third customer service rep in order to pay my mortgage and looked out the window to see Ollie laying calmly in the middle of the yard chewing on a bird... blech.

Decided not to do any physical outdoor activity and go to to the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival. Here's a picture of the ice castle being built. Since it had just rained that week, they were reconstructing parts of it for the big lighting that evening. The best part was watching them literally take the ice out of the water, where bricks of it had been cut and queued up, and then seeing it go almost directly onto the castle... Other highlight of the day - recent alum competing in the fry pan toss. What a weird and quaint day.
